Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is the major fundraiser for 'SIDS and Kids', dedicated to the elimination of unexplained and unexpected infant deaths. Programs undertaken by 'SIDS and Kids' continue to bring awareness to what is already known about SIDS and to provide vital crisis and grief support to families 24hrs a day, 365 days of the year.

Kidz Biz Early Learning Centre raise funds for Red Nose Day. in each of our centres each year. The children and centre families join in fundraising events and can purchase Rod Nose Day items from the centre.

We have had centre families involved with the SIDS Foundation and desire to show our support for the continuing research into this tragic childhood condition.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or 'cot death', accounts for deaths of approximately 100 babies in Australia each year, and is the major cause of death in children between the ages of one month and one year old.

With 250,000 births in Australia annually, the safe sleeping message is a critical one which Kidz Biz Early Learning Centre are proud to promote.

Kidz Biz Early Learning Centre implements The SIDS and kids Safe Sleeping Program into each centre.

Staff are trained at each centre following the SIDS and Kids Childcare Training package. This training complies with the National Childcare Accreditation Council requirements and allows us Kidz Biz Early Learning Centre to up-to-date with the latest safe sleeping practices.

The four main recommendations for safe sleeping for infants are;

  1. Put baby on their back to sleep from birth.
  2. Sleep baby with their face uncovered and remove items that may cause strangulation.
  3. Don’t smoke near the baby
  4. Have a safe sleeping environment for baby night and day. Make sure the baby is not over heated while sleeping.

For further information on SIDS and safe sleeping please see the first edition of our 'Small Wonders' magazine.

Red Nose day will be held on:  Friday 26th June, 2009. All Kidz Biz Early Learning Centres will have the latest merchandise for families and the community to purchase.

Telethon

Telethon is one of Western Australia's most loved children's charities. Since it’s inception, Telethon has raised over $70 million for children and young people throughout the State.

Where it all began...

Telethon began in 1968 when Channel 7 Perth registered the charitable trust dedicated to raising funds to improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia . Since its inception, Telethon has raised over $67.8 million and provided much needed financial assistance to a significant number of organisations. These include:

Kidz Biz Early Learning Centre are proud supporters of Telethon. We began raising large donations for Telethon in 2004. Each year we have held an annual Community Quiz night, to raise the bulk of our funds. Also, the children in each centre raise funds for sick children by having fancy dress days, making paper flowers for a coin donation and attending centre events. Centre families are fantastic in supporting Kidz Biz with our fundraising events for Telethon. In 2004 we raised $5,000. In 2005 we raised $7,500 and in 2006 we have raised $9,000. This brings our fundraising to a total of $21,500.
