Food & Nutrition
Kidz Biz provides all meals and food during the day to ensure the children are eating wholesome and nutritious foods to support healthy growth and development.
Food is delivered fresh to the centre each week in refrigerated vehicles. A rigid Food Safety Program checks temperatures of foods when delivered, when served to the children, in fridges, in freezers and in storage.
Kidz Biz provide homemade, healthy baby foods for children 0-3, 3-6 and 6-12 months.
The safety of foods is a priority and no hard foods are served to children under 12 months.
Our menus provide children with three meals per day catering for 50% of children’s daily recommended dietary intake in the form of safe and appetizing food, taking into account the children’s ages and specific dietary requirements, seasonal and multicultural variety.
Children’s specific dietary requirements are discussed at enrolment time and a management plan for the child is devised in conjunction with the parents.
Breakfast is provided in our centres that open at 6.30am.
Morning Tea is served at 9.15am
Lunch is served at 11.30am
Afternoon Tea is served at 2.30pm
A late snack is served at 5.00pm.
The centre maintains Foodsafe certificates and is compliant with all council audits. The service follows the Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents and the Get Up & Grow: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity for Early Childhood. Educators observe children’s growth and health.
The menus are developed in conjunction with the food coordinator, supervising officer, parents and educators. The menu is reviewed regularly.
The menus are designed to meet the children’s requirements.
The menu rotates through four weeks and reflects seasonal changes and the availability of fruit and vegetables.
The menu includes meals from a variety of cultures.
